Khadijah Okunnu-Lamidi is campaigning for the post of president of Nigeria ahead of the 2023 elections. The 38-year-old was also the first woman in the lineup of presidential aspirants to declare interest in the office.
Education and Career
Khadijah Okunnu-Lamidi popularly known as KOL, attended the University of Lagos Staff School and Childville School, Yaba, Lagos for her primary education. Shortly after completing primary school, she proceeded to Atlantic Hall School, Maryland, Lagos for her secondary education.
Ms Okunnu-Lamidi holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Bolton RAK Campus in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and also has a Masters’ degree in Strategic Project Management from Heriot-Watt University, Dubai.
Upon moving back to Lagos to do her NYSC programme, she taught Physics and Chemistry at a Lagos government school.
She is also the founder of Slice Media Solutions, an advertising agency.
Notable Works
Khadijah Okunnu-Lamidi got her first job at age 16 at the Motherless Babies Home, Lekki where she was introduced to community organising.
She is also the first female to be featured as a cover story in Out-of-Home magazine in Nigeria. Ms Okunnu-Lamidi is the brain behind social initiatives like Water Relief Nigeria and Help Our Youth.
Running under the Social Democratic Party, she says part of her agenda is to integrate more women into the military and security apparatus of the country.
