Yemi Adamolekun, the Executive Director of Enough is Enough (EiE) Nigeria, has won the 2022 Global Citizen Prize in recognition of her work in fighting against the abuse of citizens’ rights in Nigeria through EiE.
According to an article on the Global Citizen website, Ms Adamolekun was inspired to start EiE Nigeria shortly after she came back to Nigeria in 2010 following the completion of her Masters in Business Administration in the United Kingdom.
A friend of hers asked her to join in a protest against the killings in Jos and the fuel scarcity which were occurring in Nigeria.
The protest which happened in Abuja, Nigeria was the first she had ever attended in Nigeria. Her experience in a follow up Lagos protest led her to launch Enough is Enough Nigeria; a non profit organisation aimed at civic education and public accountability.
The Global Citizen Prize recognises people who are dedicated to being changemakers in their communities, in a way that also inspires global change.
