Ndiilokelwa Nthengwe is a Namibian feminist, communications expert, LGBTQ rights activist and author. They have a background in Business Development, Entrepreneurship, and Computer Technology.
Activism
Ndiilolelwa Nthengwe was a prominent voice in the #ShutItDown nationwide protests against sexual violence which were held in October 2020 in Namibia. With qualifications from the AFDA school of entrepreneurship, cape town, Ndiilokelwa believes that technology and business enterprises should be used in tandem to rigorously improve the quality of life and ensure the education of women and minority groups.
Ndiilokelwa was also a part of the online #LegalizeAbortionNA protests in July 2020. They told CNN that their demands of the protest were access to holistic reproductive justice care for Namibian women and access to on-demand abortion for anyone from the age of 10.
Writing
In 2021, Ndiilokelwa released a memoir on pre-order titled “The Chronicles of a Non-Binary Black Lesbian Namibian”. This book is a coming of age story that is defined by the legal, sociopolitical and gender issues that shape and affect the lives of queer people in Namibia. On why they chose to write this book, they said
“It was important to insert these key identities as they are part of the key themes that summarize the writing in the book. They are also meant to reintroduce me, firmly, and purport so much more on what I aim to achieve in the next few years”
Qualifications
Ndiilokelwa is the Ambassador of HERVoiceFund Namibia. The HER Voice Fund offers small grants to organisations in 13 priority countries where the Global Fund is investing to contribute to the reduction of HIV incidence among adolescent girls and young women. They serve as the Advocacy and Communications Officer of Out-Right Namibia, the leading LGBT human rights organization in Namibia. They are also the Communications Associate of the HCDExchange Youth Leadership Hub, Kenya and the Country Coordinator of the International Youth Alliance for Family Planning (IYAFP 2020-2022). They were a member of the SADC Youth parliament 2020 and is the Co-founder of Voices for Choices and Rights Coalition (VCRC). In July 2021, They were featured in an episode of the podcast, We Are Not crazy, You Are!
